The Etekcity Temperature Gun has come in handy a few times over the past week. So far I've used it to check the temperature of:
    - the local lake water (I have a new wet suit and was curious on how cold the water could be yet still be comfortable)
    - deep freezer (ice cream was surprisingly easy to scoop so I was wondering if the temperature was high)

I'm sure I'll continue to put it to use in the months to come. Some other ideas are checking road temperature on a hot day and using it for a future science project with my kids.

The Etekcity Lasergrip is easy to use. Just point at an item and hold the trigger. The gun will instantly display the temperature in your choice of F or C. It will also give a max temperature if you're collecting readings across an area. The product includes a 9V battery, which is nice since I don't typically have extras on hand.

Overall, I really like the gadget and haven't found any issues with it yet. I don't believe it can be used to detect a fever, but that's not my intended use for it anyway.

Note: I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

Eteckcity has some amazing products. After purchasing their excellent USB recorder and several camp lanterns, I decided to try their Lasergrip 1022D Infrared thermometer. The included battery is a bit difficult to remove but once the protective wrapper is off and the battery installed, the thermometer is super easy to use. You simply point toward the surface to be measured, press the trigger and move it toward or away from the object until two laser spots converge for the best accuracy of that spot. If you prefer, you can have it scan a larger area to get the average temperature. It comes with excellent instructions and guidelines for increasing accuracy by making adjustments for various material surfaces. As a beekeeper, I thought it would be interesting to measure the inside (with hive opened) and outside surface temperatures of my hives. It has been interesting to carry it around and find the temperature of various items at different times. It confirmed that my refrigerator, freezer and oven were all at appropriate degrees. In the heat of summer and the cold of winter, I plan to check for drafts. To check for accuracy, I measured the degrees F of the surface of a wall thermometer. They matched perfectly. There are many applications for this thermometer both fun and practical. Etekcity makes quality products. Disclaimer: I received this item at a reduced price or free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I got this Lasergrip for my son who is Head Maintenance for a huge Mgmt Company.
I know he will use this countless times...that is after I am done playing with it...I mean
    checking it out.
This temperature gun seems to be made very well. It has a nice heft to it, feels solid
and has a grip on the handle for a good hold. Twin laser beams cross and that's where
you will get the best reading. It has an easy to read led display and auto shut off. It will save
data from your last readings and also works in f or c. Includes low battery indicator.
This thing is really cool. It's amazing all the things you can get a temp on and you don't have
to be close to the object to get the temp.
Great as this Lasergrip is, I'm anxious to give it to my son. I can only imagine how many times
he's going to use it and how he's going to be happy he has it.
I received this for free in exchamge for my honest opinion and review. In all honesty.

Sometimes taking temperature readings can be a challenge, especially when involves a temperature probe and hot surfaces or just simply when the object isn't' easy to reach - well, that's when infrared thermometers really come in handy!
The Etekcity Lasergrip 1022D is one of those thermometers and provides good functionality in a small and well constructed device.

Unpacking & Setup are easy, the only hassle I experienced was with the battery and it's compartment - it is a tight fit in there and taking the battery out is a little tricky, but doable and given the lifetime of the battery not really something you do all to often. Plus, everything sits well together here... there is no rattling, no loose parts - the housing and the battery cover are all well constructed.

Thanks to it's 2 laser beams, aiming the infrared sensor (which measures the temperature) at the desired object is as simple as it gets. The result is displayed pretty much instantly on the easy to read display which features a blue back-light.

The Lasergrip 1022D can read temperatures in a range from ~ -58F - 1022F / ~ -50C - 550C with an accuracy of +/-2 degrees and has a recommended reading distance of 14.17 inch / 36cm (distance from the sensor to the surface you want to take temperature of).
It let’s you switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, the display backlight and the lasers can be deactivated and it has the option to adjust the emissivity value according to a material chart.

It comes with the battery and a small manual, but NO pouch or bag - which is really the only downside here.

Overall this is a good buy for a infrared thermometer! I’ve used it now for the past 2 weeks on several occasions and it does the job well!

    - well constructed
    - wide temperature range
    - good functionality, well documented in the manual
    - easy to read display

    - tricky to install/change the battery
    - has a slight delay when switching the device on
    - no pouch/bag included

First of all, my motivation for acquiring this product was for a couple of reasons - measuring the temperature of my BBQ, the pool, and my own curiosity of how hot the inside of the car gets after sitting in the sun. It turns out there are many more unexpected and useful reasons to own a laser/infrared thermometer. More on that later...

I received the device very quickly from Etekcity in a standard sealed plastic packaging. The device is lightweight, yet feels sturdy enough to survive the occasional drop. It has a semi-rubberized coating on the plastic handle, battery compartment cover, trigger, and nose. It takes a single 9-volt battery, which is included in the package, and easy to install. From there, a simple pull of the trigger activates the laser and back-lit display. Holding the trigger provides continuous temperature readings, and releasing the trigger locks the reading on the screen. There is also a separate read-out for the maximum reading during that period. You can turn off the backlight if desired with a push of one of the four operational buttons. You can also enable/disable the laser, change between Celsius and Farenheit, and adjust for differences in emissivity of the target object.

Within minutes of opening the package, my teen-age son had his hands on it, measuring everything from the dog, the cat, his dinner, the heater register, the oven, himself, my coffee. While none of those items were considered when looking for such a device, they were fun nonetheless, and clearly shows that the practical device can also be used for entertainment and educational purposes. Never let an unsupervised child used the device, however, due to the lasers and potential eye damage caused by them.

With only one of these devices, it was a bit hard to judge accuracy. However, using other mechanisms, such as the house thermostat, the oven settings, and expected human body temperature, it seems the device is very close to accurate. The specifications say +/- 2% (2 degrees Celsius). I am happy with the device, the results/information it produces, the ease of use, and it's perceived durability. It's well worth the $20 price.

Note: This devices was provided to me at a discount for a fair and honest review. My opinion was not influenced in any way by this.

I use these IR thermometers for a range of different things. The majority of the time I am using it while using a heat gun in the shop to make sure I am not overheating the material I am working on. I've been using a Fluke 62 Mini for nearly 10 years. I had some concerns about it's accuracy so I ordered this inexpensive IR thermometer to double check my suspicions.
Amazingly, I now prefer to use this model that was literally 1/4 the price of the Fluke. The dual lasers display the range of the beam. The Fluke has a single laser and a diagram on the top showing the spot size at certain distances. The dual beams take the guess work out of estimating the distance and size of the beam.
There is an additional feature that allows you to adjust the Emissivity Level on the gun based on the material you are scanning. I have adjusted the levels based on what I was using the thermometer for but I couldn't think of a way to confirm the readings. I have since set it to .94 because that seems to cover most materials that I am frequently working on.

I received this IR thermomter at a discount, I thoroughly tested and used the thermomter before posting my review. I do not give positive reviews to products that do not deserve them simply because I received them at a discount. I count on honest reviews as much as you.

I got this infrared thermometer the other day. I think that it is fairly accurate and if you are ok with a couple of degrees variation, then this is a great gadget to have around the house

-The construction of it is very nice and it feels good in your hand
-it has quick/fast reading of temperature
-backlit feature makes the readings easy to view and understand

To test the validity of its measurements, i used it on the following:
    -temperature of a room (accurate)
-temperature of a person (this was not as accurate as it listed 94 degrees instead of 98.6, but it likely has to do with how infrared temperature is measured on body parts. not a knock on this device)
    -temperature of our pool (accurate)
-temperature of contents in fridge (accurate within a couple of degrees, but it depends on which object in the fridge you pointed the lasers - see pictures for the freezer and the fridge readings) Fridge was supposed to be 37 and measured at 37.9 and freezer was 3 and measured at 4.5.
-temperature of a glass of water that was heated up (accurate within a few degrees, measured at 141 compared to 145.5 based on an immersed thermometer)

this has also proven to be an entertaining gadget for the kids that are measuring everything around the house.

I mostly wanted a laser thermometer to make sure bathwater was perfect and that asphalt wasn't too hot to walk my dog. My husband and I ended up playing around taking the temperature of anything and everything around our house. The battery was included, which is a huge plus as so many items don't come with the battery anymore.

Just remember that the gun only tells you the surface temperature, not the internal temperature. You can't take the temperature of meat and ensure that the meat is safe without using a probe thermometer. You can use it to tell if a pan is preheated to your liking or if oil is heated. I also read on a cooking website that infrared temperature guns do a really good job measuring the temp of microwaved liquids like water for yeast bread dough or tea or coffee. It should be right at 100 degrees to encourage the yeast to grow but not hot enough to kill the yeast. For a hot beverage you might find that 150 degrees is your preference to brew tea.

The operation is easy to understand and the display is easy to read. The gun feels solid in your hand and the grip is nice. The laser sight helps you zero in on exactly what are you are taking the temperature of. Once I understood that shiny objects (stainless steel pans, etc.) have a low emissivity and dark objects (cast iron pans, etc.) have a high emissivity I could adjust the emissivity settings on the gun better to get a more accurate reading.

Disclosure: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I did not guarantee a positive review and was not compensated for reviewing the product.

    By K. Smith On Apr 15, 2016

This is a great laser thermometer. It works by measuring the temperature between two laser points emitted when you press the trigger. The closer the two dots are, the more precise the temperature reading is. The further you get from a surface the further apart the laser dots get. This is beneficial over a single laser point because it gives you a better idea of what you are measuring, and how it gets less precise the further from the surface you are.

This is an incredibly simple device to use, and appears to be more accurate than some of the other thermometers in this class. It allows you to easily adjust the emissivity of the device, and it gives you an option to turn off the laser.

It is powered by a single 9 volt battery, which is included in the package. I had to use a small knife to get the battery out because it was wedged in pretty tight, but one I did it was a snap to remove the plastic and replace the battery.

Overall, this is a great temperature gun for the price, and you will find yourself running all over your house measuring the temperature of various devices.

This a great thermometer. I've been thinking on getting one since I want to have the ability to measure temperature readings on my computer components. Some parts cannot be monitored by the PC itself. As an example the AMD R9 290 GPU was able to provide a readout in GPU-Z for the VRM temperatures. I switched to the NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti and the VRM temperatures cannot be monitored. With the infrared thermometer I can point and click to get a very approximate reading.

More in-depth video review on YouTube (same username).

Pros: Pretty accurate readings. Split laser to focus in on what you want to measure. Doesn't feel cheap. Rubber grip throughout including the trigger. Backlight on display. Included battery. Thorough user guide and good for beginners as well. Plastic package also functions as storage location.

    Neutral: No wrist strap

Cons: None that I can think of.

The Etekcity Lasergrip 1022D Dual Laser Non-contact Digital Infrared Thermometer Temperature Gun was provided for an honest / unbiased review.
