I LOVE THIS THING. Got it for $13 with coupon while it was on sale on Eastmachinery. SOOOO Glad i didnt buy the ones from Home Depot or Lowes for $70+. I have damn near no use for it, but as a tech lover i have always wanted one. I can go around and randomly see the temperature of different things. I can check that my AC is working efficiently. I can prove to the GF the AC is blowing cold air and working fine (The south in August is tad bit warm). Construction seems solid. When i first turned it on it was set to celsius. One click later and it was back to farenheit. You can turn the laser pointer on and off. Though i dont know why you'd want it off. While using it, it will remember the hottest temperature you have pointed it at durring that time period.

I have no idea why I bought this, but is is crazy that for for so little money you can measure the temperature of a person or cat across the room. In case you are wondering: human skin is MUCH warmer than a cat's fur!

My last gun quit working after a few years of use, so needed a new one. This thing seems to fit the bill nicely and seems to work well. Point it at what you want to measure and it tells you the temp. No way for me to know if it is 100% correct, but for my needs (basic automotive stuff, around the house and just playing with) it works great, and the price was right with coupon code. I do like the blue back light, looks neat and easy to read the numbers.

Great little thermometer. I use it to measure everything from cooking temps when cooking and frying in cast iron skillets, to spot checks of the temperature of my wheel bearings on a camping trailer when I've stopped after a few hours' drive.

Purchased on a bit of a whim, this is afun little gadget to have around that occasionally becomes quite useful.

I've used it to check for air conditioning leaks, uneven heating in my oven, and will conduct amino energy audit come winter.

Operation is straightforward and easy to view on the LCD screen with togglable backlight. The various modes store average or peak temperature readings. The laser pointer ensures you're getting the reading from he surface you want, as well as doubling as great cat toy.

A very fine little gadget that will probably be just the thing you need every so often.

This is a very accurate temperature sensor. Very easy to use, just point and press the trigger. Found that my dual pane windows have a 10 degree difference inside and outside. Temperature inside is the room temperature. My single pane are the same inside and outside. I took temperatures inside and outside my white truck. Was surprised at the difference. It was 85 outside and 108 inside. I had no idea. Anyway, this is a fun temperature gun when you'd like to know how hot/cold it is in various areas and don't want to place thermometers there.

I can hardly remember the trouble I used to have trying to get my old thermometer submerged in boiling hot water and hold it there in the steaming air of the kettle for long enough to get a temperature reading. This device has completely transformed that awful experience into a simple point, click, and check the reading. The readings are very accurate and consistent. I couldn't be happier that I no longer have to fiddle around with a traditional thermometer. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a quick, easy, and convenient way to measure temperature!

Bought it on a whim as a toy to have around the house. Have ended up using it in numerous instances that I never thought I would. This is a simple tool that really everyone should own for the price. I have never depended on this gun to give me accurate temperatures (and thus never tested it for such use) but only for relative differences between objects. I have not yet needed to use this gun to get an accurate temperature but wouldn't be afraid to given its performance so far. One of those products you never knew you needed until you had.

I picked this up on a discount for $14, and it has been fantastic. As a new home owner its really hand to check for major air leaks around the house windows/doors. Its useful in a kitchen to know if a pan is up to temp and even. I found that 1 of my burners was slanted and un-evenly heating a pan with this thing.
Another use was my wife wanted to store something in our garage, a quick use of this showed it was 20degrees F, below freezing, and therefore not a good place for her item.

Its also a good amount of fun to toy with. Friends have gotten a kick out of checking forehead temp, vs in the mouth temp. LED light bulb temp, vs old light bulb temp (100 vs 350 F) ect.

If nothing else, it serves as a better laser pointer for playing with the cat.

If you are after a accurate thermometer, this probably isn't for you. At a range of like 10 feet, it is measuring an area something like a 6 inch circle.(it gives directions on range/accuracy). So if you are trying to measure a small area from any range, its not going to work well. But if you want to know how hot it is by your fireplace? - awesome tool and toy.
